“September 21, 1945… that was the night I died. “
This is my photo for the list of Studio Ghibli prompts I am doing. I have had this in my head for a very, very long time, even before I imagined doing these prompts. It has been sticking around for months! It is inspired by the movie Grave of the Fireflies, a movie about a young boy and his little sister who are left to survive alone in the midst of the second world war.
“Why must fireflies die so young?”

I believe this is a quote from the Persion poet, Rumi, in my rather erratic writing style (and accompanied by my poofy, tucked in shirt…).“Stop acting so small and walking like the living dead. You are the universe in ecstatic motion.”

Why do we have to be born into this way? It always seems that technology is all that holds us together. There isn’t enough nature, nowadays. I guess posting this online is a tad contradictory, but that’s okay.

This was a lot of fun, even though this situation looks like it could never be fun. I live in a fairly nice trailer court and I took this in my very front yard, gathering many weird looks from neighbours and those who passed by! I wonder what they were thinking??

Can anyone else not stop listening to Mumford and Sons? The song title is from their song ‘The Cave’.

I finally have a photo I like! Lately, my creativity has felt off, and none of my photos have been turning out right. That’s why my posting has been so slow, too! I have a few models lined up now though, and a few more ideas that I am dying to try out, so hopefully this marks a turn in things!

My new website is nearly finished; just working out a few bumps. In a few days it might be up! =)

For those of you who haven’t read Aldous Huxley’s ‘Brave New World’, ‘soma’ is defined (by huxley.net) as “The imaginary “ideal pleasure drug” in Aldous Huxley’s novel Brave New World (1932). Its chemistry and pharmacology are undefined. As described, the drug resembles a hangoverless tranquilliser or an opiate.” It put the characters in the book into a dream like, pleasurable state of calmness and willingness.http://www.flickr.com/photos/mkdegroot/5982952943/in/photostream
